This is the house where Cagliostro met with Cardinal de Rohan to discuss the consequences of the then almost upcoming French Revolution. A little lmore than a year after he came to Paris, he was forced to exile (1786) in the aftermath of the Affair of the Diamond Necklace.
- Count Alessandro di Cagliostro - Born in Sicily on June 2nd, 1743, under the name Giuseppe Balsamo, he travelled early throughout Europe and other countries and became somewhat famous as a kind of magician, alchemist and healer. His live is shrouded with mystery. While in France in the 1780's, he was prosecuted in the Affair of the Diamond Necklace which involved Marie Antoinette and was asked to leave the country, which he did, settling in England. He then came back to Italy, where he was arrested and sentenced to death on the charge of being a Freemason. The sentenced was however changed to life imprisonment. He died in prison in 1795.
