The Institute, often abbreviated "AWI" ("IMA" in French) is dedicated to research and information about the Arab world and its values. The renowned architect Jean Nouvel was, together with Architecture-Studio, responsible for the building's plans.
The south facade is made of 240 moucharaby windows that automatically opens and closes depending on the amount of sunlight. An interior marble courtyard is part of a rectangular grid that curves itself following the river side. The building walls are mostly made of glass and aluminium.
From the high-floor restaurant and tea house, you can enjoy a wonderful view of Paris, with Notre-Dame Cathedral in the foreground. This really is a place worth seeing.
