Will you be up to the challenge ?
  • The frescos of the Pagoda

On the walls and on the ceiling are scenes of war. Do you know why those frescos prevented China from establishing its embassy here in 1930 ? (We have to admit this one's not easy).

The place

This is the only movie theater of the 7th district. And it's a genuine Japanese pagoda with a very nice garden. To build it, architect Alexandre Marcel took inspiration from the Toshogu sanctuary in Nikko, north Japan. Back in 1896, the building was a gift from François-Émile Morin, then the head manager of the Bon Marché department store, to his wife (who, incidentally, was to leave him the next year).

Jean Cocteau's Le Testament d’Orphée premiered here in 1959.
