In context : A deluxe village life between Champerret and Monceau
Well, the previous stop being a mystery one, we won't tell you precisely how to get to the hotel. By chance, both Hoche avenue and the hotel are very easy to find.
This luxury hotel was inaugurated in 1928 and conceived by architect Louis Duhayon. It is known to have had a lot of famous guests over the years.
During World War II, it was used as the Allied forces headquarters. In 1948, the negociations leading to the creation of the state of Israel were held here.
In 2010, now a property of the state of Qatar, it reopened after renovation works that lasted 2 years, and were conducted by French designer Philippe Starck.
Among the prestigious guests of the hotel since 1928 are Coco Chanel, Walt Disney, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Hô Chi Minh, Robert de Niro and French singer Michel Polnareff (for 800 days between 1989 and 1992 !).
The hotel now has a bookshop specialized in contemporary art, a movie theater, works of art and photographs from significant contemporary artists (such as Rune Guneriussen for instance).
The La Cuisine restaurant is led since november 2012 by Japanese chef Nobu, with pastries by Pierre Hermé. Another restaurant is housed in the hotel, Il Carpaccio (italian cuisine).
