In context : Strolling through the courtyards of Bastille
(From : Bastille Opera). Now take Richard-Lenoir boulevard and turn right into Daval street. Cour Damoye will be on your right.
This small XVIIIth century paved courtyard, only opened during the day, is little known but absolutely lovely. It is, in some way, the ancestor of the parisian covered passageways (well, without the "covered" part) : stores and workshops on the ground foor, residences above.
Nowdays, with mostly small offices and artist studios (there is also a coffee brewery), its calm is in sharp contrast with the busy surrounding neighbourhood, as well as with the Cour Damoye's own past.
